Overview of the Simo ZDT2 Series DC Motor
The Simo ZDT2 series DC motor, developed by Xi’an Taifu Simo Motor, is a new product designed and manufactured using the latest technology. It is based on the Z series of medium-sized DC motors produced by our factory and is specifically intended for driving sugar mill rollers. The performance, installation dimensions, and technical requirements of this series comply with national standards (GB) and International Electrotechnical Commission standards (IEC). The mechanical dimensions and tolerances of the motor parts conform to the standards of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
Operating Conditions for the Simo ZDT2 Series DC Motor
- The Simo ZDT2 series DC motor can be installed in harsh environments, but it is crucial to select the correct cooling method and protection grade to maintain internal motor cleanliness.
- The cooling air for the ZDT2 series motor should not contain gases, such as acids and alkalis, that could damage the motor’s insulation and commutation performance.
- The ZDT2 series motor is suitable for use in hot and humid tropical regions, with ambient air temperatures not exceeding 40°C.
- The power supply for the ZDT2 series motor should be a stationary rectifier power supply or a DC generator power supply.
- When powered by a stationary rectifier, the rectifier pulse number should be no less than 6. At the rated base speed, rated voltage, and rated load current, the peak ripple of the power supply should not exceed 10%, and an external smoothing reactor is not necessary.
Cooling Methods, Structure, and Installation Types of the Simo ZDT2 Series DC Motor
The protection grade of the Simo ZDT2 series DC motor complies with the GB/T4942.1 and IEC34-5 “Degrees of Protection Provided by Enclosures for Electrical Equipment” standards, offering protection grades of IP23 and IP44. The cooling methods adhere to the GB/T1993 and IEC34-6 “Methods of Cooling for Electrical Machines” standards, with three options: IC06, IC17, and IC37. The standard form of this series has the cooling air inlet at the drive end (non-commutator end).
The installation type of this series of motors complies with the GB997 and IEC34-7 “Code for Designating the Structure and Mounting Arrangement of Electrical Machines” standards. The standard IM1001 type has a shielded bearing, foot-mounted, and cylindrical single shaft extension. The IM1002 derivative has a shielded bearing, foot-mounted, and cylindrical double shaft extension.
The terminal box is positioned on the right side of the motor housing when viewed from the drive end (non-commutator end). If the customer requires the terminal box to be positioned on the opposite side, this should be specified when ordering. The standard output shaft is a single shaft extension, with the output shaft direction being leftward when facing the terminal box. If needed, a double shaft extension can also be manufactured. The basic rotational direction of the shaft, when viewed from the commutator end, is counterclockwise. The motor’s transmission method is connected via a flexible coupling.
Performance of the Simo ZDT2 Series DC Motor
- The motor rating for this series is continuous duty S1.
- The standard rated voltages for this series are 440V and 520V, with other voltage levels available upon request at the time of order.
- The basic excitation method for this series is separately excited. The excitation winding has four lead terminals, forming two groups. When connected in series, the excitation voltage is 220V. Other excitation voltage levels can be agreed upon at the time of order.
- The short-time overload capacity for this series: the base speed overload capacity is 2.5 times the rated current, and the high-speed overload capacity is 1.8 times the rated current.
- The rate of current change (di/dt) can reach up to 200 times the rated current per second.
Motor Accessories
Based on customer requirements, the motor can be designed to accommodate additional accessories such as a tachometer generator, pulse generator, centrifugal switch, and brake. Specific requirements can be discussed with our factory.

- Strictly implement relevant national standards, manufacture and inspect products according to standard contract technical requirements, and ensure that no substandard products leave the factory.
- After the final assembly and connection test of various finished products, the assembly personnel conduct a 72-hour operation test before submitting the products for inspection. The products are subjected to relevant standards for no-load tests and reliability tests to improve the reliability of new products and eliminate early failures.
- Under normal sales conditions, the above-mentioned finished products are strictly delivered on time. Functional components are guaranteed to be delivered within three months, with the possibility of earlier delivery in special cases. If delays occur, compensation is provided according to the “97” new measures for quality improvement.
- If quality issues arise during product use, the company guarantees a response within 24 hours after receiving customer notification. If on-site service is required, it will be initiated within 48 hours, and service personnel will not leave until the issue is resolved.
- Products leaving the factory are accompanied by complete technical documentation. For any product quality issues, Simo Motor offers repair, replacement, or refund services.
- Once sold, Simo Motor products come with a lifetime warranty at cost.
Ordering Information for the Simo ZDT2 Series DC Motor
- Before ordering, please refer to the Simo Motor product catalog to confirm the model specifications and other data of the required product, and choose standard specifications as much as possible. In the order contract, please specify the motor model, power, voltage, rotation speed, excitation method, excitation voltage, and structure installation form, such as ZDT2-450-3 500KW 440V 650r/min separately excited 220V, horizontal foot-mounted or IMB3.
- If there are special requirements for the motor, such as double shaft extension, reversed terminal box position, or reverse shaft rotation, these should be clearly stated in the contract.
- If the required specifications are not listed in the Simo Motor catalog, or if there are other special requirements, a contract or trial production agreement can be signed after mutual agreement.
- All accessories, except for the shaft extension key, are not included in the supply scope. If accessories or spare parts, such as brushes and brush holders, are needed, please specify the names and quantities of the required accessories or spare parts in the contract.
