The Z4 series DC motor features a center height ranging from 100 to 355 mm, adhering to the People’s Republic of China’s mechanical industry standard JB/T6316-92 “Z4 Series DC Motor Technical Conditions” for small DC motors. Motors with a center height between 400 to 450 mm are extensions beyond the standard series, while those with a center height between 500 to 710 mm are newly developed medium-sized DC motors. The Simo Z4 series DC motors are widely applicable in various industrial sectors, including metallurgy, metal cutting machines, paper making, textiles, printing, cement, and plastic extrusion machinery.

Compared to the Z2 and Z3 series, the Z4 series offers superior performance, being suitable not only for power supply from DC generators but also from stationary rectifiers. With a low moment of inertia, these motors exhibit excellent dynamic performance and can endure high load variations, making them ideal for systems requiring smooth speed regulation, high efficiency, automatic speed stability, and quick responsiveness, meeting advanced international standards.

These motors are rated for continuous duty at altitudes up to 1000 meters and ambient temperatures not exceeding 40°C. The Simo Z4 series motors use F-class insulation.

The power range of the Xi’an Simo Z4 series DC motors spans from 1.5 kW to 840 kW, with rated speeds available in 3000, 1500, 1000, 750, 600, 500, 400, 300, and 200 r/min. They are shunt-wound, with an excitation voltage of 180V. Other power ratings, armature voltages, speeds, and excitation voltages can be derived based on specific situations and customer needs.

For motors with a rated voltage of 160V, when powered by a single-phase bridge rectifier, an external reactor is usually required. The inductance value of the external reactor is specified on the motor nameplate. Motors with a rated voltage of 440V generally do not require an external reactor.

The performance of this series of motors not only meets the national standard GB/T755 “Basic Technical Requirements for Rotating Electrical Machines” but also largely conforms to the German VDE0530 standard.

Cooling Methods and Installation Types:

Basic Structure: The Z4 series DC motors feature an octagonal laminated structure, which not only maximizes space utilization but also allows the motor to withstand pulsating currents and rapid load current changes when powered by a stationary rectifier.Typically, the Z4 series DC motors do not include a series winding, making them suitable for automatic control technology requiring forward and reverse rotation. However, they can be manufactured with a series winding if required by the customer. Motors with a center height of 100 to 280 mm do not have compensating windings, but those with a center height of 250 mm or 280 mm can be made with compensating windings as per specific needs. Motors with a center height of 315 to 450 mm are equipped with compensating windings.Motors with a center height of 500 to 710 mm have mounting dimensions and technical requirements that comply with IEC international standards, and the mechanical size tolerances conform to ISO international standards.

      The installation form of the Z4 series Simo motors complies with GB/T997 “Motor Structure Installation Forms and Codes,” and all installation dimensions, except for the foot hole axial distance (B dimension), conform to IEC standards.The motor terminal box is located on the right side of the frame when viewed from the drive end (non-commutator end), which is known as the positive box. If the customer requires the terminal box to be on the opposite side, it should be specified in the order as a reverse box. The standard output shaft configuration is single-ended, with the output shaft on the left side when facing the terminal box (positive box). Dual-ended output shafts are also available upon request. The basic rotation direction of the shaft is counterclockwise when viewed from the commutator end. The motor is coupled to the drive using a flexible coupling but can also be used for transmission methods involving a certain radial force (belt or gear transmission).
